Is the lieutenant governor more powerful than the governor?
The lieutenant governor usually assumes the executive duties in the governor’s absence or the commission of the governor. For instance, if a governor dies, resigns or is removed from office, the lieutenant governor becomes governor.
There are seven states in which five of the remaining states do not have lieutenant governors. Two of the remaining states (Tennessee and West Virginia) assign the position to the president, whom the respective state senate elects.

Phil Van Zandt, guitarist/vocalist Steve Gaines, singer/guitarist Cassie Gaines, and Assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick died in the crash. The survivors were all seated well toward the back of the plane.
